A Long History in Workers’ Compensation
Two Rivers’ ten attorneys, assisted by their eleven paralegals and seven lay staff, work tirelessly in representing the Firm’s clients at all levels before the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission as well as before Virginia’s trial courts, Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.
Though a new firm, Two Rivers’ lawyers are not new to their practices and cover all of Virginia from the Firm’s Richmond and Christiansburg offices. The attorneys of Two Rivers, together, bring a total of 165 years of experience to bear on their defense of clients before the Workers’ Compensation Commission. Several of the Firm’s lawyers also have extensive experience in Virginia’s trial courts in insurance coverage and other civil cases.
The Firm’s senior shareholders have received regional and national recognition as accomplished practitioners in their fields. In the Richmond Office, Mary Louise Kramer has devoted herself to workers’ compensation defense since 1975 and has been named in The Best Lawyers in America and has been listed among the Virginia Super Lawyers in workers’ compensation since 2007. Mary Lou is AV rated by Martindale.
Vernon Priddy, in practice since 1982, is a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and has litigated over 175 appeals in appellate courts in Virginia. Now a member of the Virginia Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Section Council, Vernon has also been listed since 2007 in The Best Lawyers in America and in the Virginia Super Lawyers for both his workers’ compensation and appellate practices. Vernon is BV rated by Martindale.
Cecil Creasey, practicing since 1983, has extensive experience before the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission. He was named among the Virginia Business Legal Elite for his Regulatory/Administrative practice. Cecil also serves on appointment from the Supreme Court of Virginia as a special state administrative hearing officer for agencies throughout the Commonwealth. Cecil is BV rated by Martindale.
In the Christiansburg Office, Sarah Kirby, in practice since 1987, handles a wide array of workers’ compensation claims, however, she has particular expertise in handling black lung claims, defending employers before both the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission and the U.S. Department of Labor/Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs, handling cases before the Administrative Law Judges and appeals to the Benefits Review Board.
Mark Caldwell was a manager in the trucking industry before law school. While in law school, Mark clerked for Commissioners Joyner and Diamond and began practicing in 1995. Beyond his workers’ compensation cases, Mark has an active docket in civil cases involving the trucking industry and general liability claims. Among his civic interests, Mark works with Special Olympics Virginia, and the Montgomery County-Radford and Southwestern Virginia Workers Compensation bar associations.
Finally, Mike Goff, in practice since 2001, maintains a full docket of workers’ compensation claims. He has developed extensive experience with many physicians and specialists throughout southwest and central Virginia and provides frequent recommendations for evaluations or panels to the Firm’s clients. He happily assists employers and carriers with in-house seminars and file reviews. He too is active in various Southwest Virginia bar associations.
